Organization

The Hong Kong Association of Northern California was founded in 1984 to provide a point of focus for Northern California-based individuals and corporations interested in business and trade with Hong Kong. The Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation organized under its Board of Directors. The HKANC was the first Hong Kong Association in North America. Today, there are similar organizations in Atlanta, Boston, Hawaii, Los Angeles, New York, and Texas, as well as in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.

Mission Statement

The Hong Kong Association of Northern California is dedicated to increasing the understanding of Hong Kong's role in the regional and global economies of the 21st Century. It also serves to strengthen economic ties between Northern California and Hong Kong as well as provide a focus and linkage for Northern California firms and individuals interested in pursuing business and trade with Hong Kong.

Programs

The Association sponsors a variety of programs throughout the year, both independently and jointly with other organizations. These programs include:

  • Quarterly luncheons with distinguished speakers from Hong Kong, the U.S. and other areas of the world.
  • Roundtable meetings with visiting government and business leaders to exchange experiences and views in an informal setting.
  • Trade missions that allow small groups to experience high-level interaction with their counterparts in Hong Kong and China.
  • Social events, including golf tournaments, cocktail mixers, and the "Annual Event," the Association's gala black-tie affair which annually draws virtually the entire membership and their guests.
